GATHER & TASTE

  • After Hours: Big Cali Energy

    FRIDAY 5/3, 6-7:30PM

WHAT DOES “CALIFORNIA WINE COUNTRY” MEAN NOW? BEYOND THE MULTI-MILLION-DOLLAR LANDHOLDINGS, THE CHEMICAL FARMING AND IRRIGATION (AND SPOOF) - BEYOND THE “95 POINTS” RATINGS - LIE A NETWORK OF SMALL GROWERS AND THEIR COUNTERPART WINEMAKERS WHO ARE CARVING OUT LOVELY, SPECIAL WINES THAT HAVE REAL PERSONALITY AND SPEAK MORE TO HERITAGE VINEYARDS AND COMMUNITIES THAN MARKET MANEUVERS.

WE CAN BARELY KEEP UP WITH THE NUMBER OF EMERGING, HIGH-QUALITY WINES FROM AREAS LIKE MENDOCINO, THE SIERRA FOOTHILLS, THE CENTRAL COAST, AND EVEN LOS ANGELES COUNTY! IT’S EXCITING TO CRACK A FEW STELLAR BOTTLES WITH YOU ALL AND GET AQUATINTED WITH THE FUTURE OF WINE OUT WEST.

  • Gonzáles Bastias Public Tasting

    Wednesday 5/8, 4-5:30PM

This is a free tasting, open to the public — we welcome all the wine curious age 21+ to join! We will open the bottles at 4pm and pour until empty/5:30pm

    MEET THE WINEMAKER!
What an amazing opportunity to meet Jose Luís Gonzales Bastías of González Bastias and taste through 4 of his wines!

Daniela Lorenzo and Jose Luis Gonzales Bastias are the couple behind one of Chile’s oldest, continuously family owned heritage Pais vineyards. They farm 4 hectares of seventh generation Pais that was planted over 200 years ago. Their land is on the southern shore of the Maule River close to the coast of Constitucion, in the Western Maule Valley. Their soil is river stones on top of a granite bedrock. The winery and cellar are on property, and many vignerons have spent time lending a hand here. Gonzales Bastias produces rare examples of age-worthy, estate-grown, natural, handmade Pais-centric wines. They are steeped in historical and cultural relevance and are a reference point for Chilean Wine.
