Cueva Nueva Vermut

$31.00

Location: Spain, Cataluña

Winemaker: Pedro Sarriòn

Grapes: Garnacha Blanca, Airén

From the Producer: Fresh, complex, and bittersweet. Cueva Nueva Vermut Rojo is a nod to the neighborhood tabernas that celebrate the tradition of la hora del vermut. Where drinkers gather for a collective moment to slow down, indulge in salty snacks, and enjoy rounds of vermut.

A blend of Garnacha Blanca and Airén, fortified with a unique selection of 88 botanicals including wormwood, orange peel, cinnamon, and traditional Mediterranean herbs. Warm yet refreshing.

As a bright sweet vermouth it pairs perfectly in classic cocktails like the Negroni and Manhattan, but truly shines when savored on its own—chilled on ice and garnished with an olive and an orange slice.

Each bottle encapsulates the no-nonsense, sun-soaked Spanish aperitivo—an invitation to a piece of timeless tradition.

From the Importer Selections de la Viña: A super traditional "Vermut de Reus" with a personal twist to nail the desired flavor and aromatic profile. White grapes are from partner vineyards in Tarragona (DO Terra Alta and DO Montsant), mainly Garnacha Blanca, but also Airen. From there, wine is aromatized with a blend of 88 botanicals—everything from wormwood and rosemary to orange peel, gentian root, cinnamon, clove, and plenty of native Mediterranean herbs. It then gets aromatized with a neutral grain-based spirit and added sugars.

Production of this Vermut comes from a bodega in Tarragona that’s been using the same techniques for over 70 years, keeping things really true to tradition. The vermut ages in 100% French oak barrels, with a small amount of aged vermut, following the Solera system for some added complexity. The goal of this project was to produce something ultra old-school but with a fresh feel, taste, and high-quality ingredients. Can be served classically on the rocks (with a green olive and orange slice) and even incorporated into a Negroni.
