From us at M&L: Part of a Renaissance that is happening in the New York Finger Lakes, Nathan Kendall began making wine there in 2011. He traveled the world, working with talented winemakers as far flung as Sonoma, Willamette Valley, Waipara, Adelaide Hills, and the Mosel. As a native of the lake region in western NY he hoped to play a part in bringing innovation to the winemaking there while reviving the wonderfully old vines of Cabernet Franc, along with investigating and producing wine from the native, North American grapes like Catawba.

This bottling of Cab Franc is luxurious and long - a far cry from the sour, astringent or jammy wines that are legion. This is purely a fruit and mineral wine, but with great depth, and a core of subtle beauty.

From the Importer Avant Garde: Nathan K. wines was founded in 2011 by Finger Lakes native Nathan Kendall. He is an internationally trained winemaker who has experience in Sonoma, Willamette Valley, Waipara (NZ), Adelaide Hills (AUS), and Mosel (GER), Nathan's plan was always to return to the shores of Seneca Lake and create wines in an old world style using quality grapes and minimal intervention.

​Having traveled throughout the world focusing on cool climate regions and varietals, Nathan's focus is on Riesling and Pinot Noir. All lots are carefully sorted and the pristine fruit then undergoes long spontaneous fermentations. Post fermentation, the wine ages for months on the gross lees to enhance the texture. Wines are then carefully racked, never fined, and gently filtered before bottling. The bottled wines evolve for 2-3 years before release to achieve the best possible expression of the Finger Lakes.
