Domaine Sérol ‘Turbullent’ Pétillant Rosé NV

$31.00

Location: France, Loire, Côte Roannaise

Winemaker: Stéphane Sérol

Grapes: Gamay

Winemaking: Orange farming, hand harvest, direct press, native yeast fermentation, ancestrale method.

From the Producer: Family estate, farmed biodynamically, on the eastern foothills of the Massif Central, close to the gorges de la Loire. Stéphane Sérol took over the estate from his father in 1996. With his wife, Carine, they selected the best potential terroirs of granite soils at high altitude (400 to 500 meters) and cleared the fields to replant vineyards. They naturally chose to plant the region’s indigenous, local grape variety: Gamay Saint Romain. A team of up to 15 people work in the vines in spring/summer.

32 hectares of Gamay Saint Romain and 2 hectares of Viognier are planted on granite soils with high density: between 8,000 and 10,000 vines/hectare. One new vineyard of 2 hectares of Chenin Blanc, planted in 2018, offers a new white wine. Domaine Sérol and Michel Troisgros share ownership of Les Blondins, a two-hectare vineyard of Gamay. Harvest is carried out by hand. Extreme rigor in the cellar allows the winemaking process to remain as natural as possible.
