From us at M&L: At the ripe of old age of 23, Louis Maurer is already several years into his career as a vigneron; his wines already showcase incredible talent and promise for the years to come. He works three hectares of vines in Eichhoffen, between Colmar and Strasbourg; these vines were gifted to him back in 2016 from his parents Philip and Peggy Maurer, who operate the family domaine, Domaine Albert Maurer. He cultivates Pinot Noir, Gewürtztraminer, and Riesling, entirely organically with no chemicals in the vines or cellar. All of Louis’ wines are fermented with native yeasts and very little SO2 is added. His Riesling is the perfect balance of fruity and floral, encased in a delicate mineral robe with subtle smokiness. -Lennie
