Location: France, Loire, Saint Pourçain
Winemaker: Jean Wambergue
Grapes: Gamay
From the Importer Jeffery Alpert Selections: With a first vintage in 2021, Jean Wambergue is starting out with a small estate of 3 hectares, with the intention of expanding to 7 hectares in the near future. The estate is undergoing organic conversion, and the construction of a winery is also underway. Boasting an array of Gamay, Tressallier, and Chardonnay spread between the communes of Saulcet and Verneuil-en-Bourbonnais, the harvest benefits from the regions’ oceanic influences. The estate utilizes the principles of biodynamics and employs traditional vinification practices with minimal sulfur dosages, resulting in innovative, purposeful wines.
