Wein-Erbhof Stein Rosé Trocken 2025

$28.00

Location: Germany, Mosel

Winemaker: Ulli Stein

Grapes: Spätburgunder, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot

Soil: Slate

From us at M&L: In our yard, between the dogwood and the other trees, wild strawberries grow. They are low to the ground, so the kids get to them first. By the time these ‘dog days’ of summer roll around, they’re gone.

Uli Stein is a master. He works some of the oldest vines on some of the steepest sites in the Mosel. His wines convey a powerful sense of stony minerals while also being nearly weightless. This beautiful paradox is on display, once again, in his Rosé Trocken 2021. Mostly Pinot Noir with a little Cabernet, this is as refreshing as it is contemplative - two friendly sensations on those hot days that feel, perhaps, hotter now.

Like our strawberries, Uli’s rosé is ephemeral, so be sure not to miss it while it’s here.

From the importer Vom Boden: Our favorite rebel/activist in the Mosel, Ulli Stein is one of the world’s most soulful growers. This is one of the few rosés from the Mosel and has become a cult favorite. Shimmering, dry with rigorous acidity.
